Complete Physical Exam
Piedmont Internal Medicine is passionate about preventive care, and our primary goal is to keep our patients healthy. An annual Complete Physical Exam is foundational to meeting that goal. Therefore, it is the requirement of Piedmont Internal Medicine, P.C., that EVERY patient over the age of 40 has a complete physical exam every 12 months. For our patients younger than 40 with no chronic illness, we strongly encourage but do not require annual physicals.
Why are Complete Physical Exams Important?
Without a doubt, consistent annual examinations can help prevent a myriad of life-threatening conditions, including chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. According to the CDC, 6 out of 10 adults have at least one chronic-care requiring illness, many of which go undiagnosed until they have caused significant damaging side effects. Seven out of ten deaths in the United States are caused by uncontrolled or undiagnosed chronic-care disease! During your Annual Complete Physical Exams, we will be able to screen for these and other health issues. We will update your medical record and address concerns you may have to maintain a baseline for previously identified illnesses.
Annual Complete Physical Exams help create a strong rapport between a patient and their provider. This relationship creates a more enriched experience with your healthcare team by having your healthcare personalized to your needs and lifestyle. More importantly, this allows you to be a vital part of your care, able to identify and communicate any new or ongoing symptoms and issues more accurately to your healthcare team.
